Named after the tag line of a World War Two propaganda poster, Loose Talk Costs Lives hail from Leeds via London. Well they were formed at Leeds University and after forming to play shows they decided to start taking it all a bit more seriously. This week they found themselves in the top 5 of the NME's Breakthough. Another new platform for unsigned bands to get their music to the masses.

It won't take much to see what band they have been most likened to. Their music could be described as angular guitar pop which has drawn many a comparison to Foals. But they most certainly have more strings to their bow than just being understudies to that band from Oxford. Even as I sit hear listening to rough demo's on their myspace I find my self struggling to stop chair skanking. Expect big things in the coming months and remember LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS.

But there's something I really like about Tame Impala Hailing all the way from Perth, Australia. Their debut album Innerspeaker should have been released a couple of weeks ago. But after an Itunes gaff, it was released a couple of weeks back. So you could say I'm pretty late on this one. Nonetheless the album has a great psychedelic floaty vibe, mixed with a bit of grunge/garage rock, which the more mature ear will definitely dig, that's you Dad. But it's also one for the younger audience who like their 70's stuff.

Whilst there Me, him and a few others are getting our step on at the 'super club' known as fabric. All in the name of Dub Police. The likes of Caspa, Skream and Emlkay will be there to shake up to our bones. I'm excited. Beers are on my Nan.

A couple of posts down I mentioned I was going to Glastonbury again this year. and now everytime I think about it I go all funny. I've been thinking about bands I'd love to see and I reckon The National are near the top of that list. A band I never use to like in all honesty but one day, whilst listening to their second record 'The Boxer' and it all just fell into place.

New album out in May, so all things are possible.

Penguin Prison ( His mum calls him Chris Glover) did some great remix work on one of my favourite bands hits, Golden Silver's True Romance sometime last year. This time around it's Brits Critics choice winner and Radio mega-darling Ellie Goulding.

It also features yet another one to watch in 2010, Theophilus London, he's not actually from London. More Brooklyn. And he's one cool mothertrucker.

Oh my days, another year, another Glastonbury. I made my debut down on Worthy Farm last year. And what an experience. Half week of pure bliss. Just everything about it appeals to me more than any festival. It's hard to describe to people who've not been. The atmosphere, the wandering, the bands, the people, the chill. Just amazing. And I met, well say met, got to know one person in particular. Hope they make it this year.

Woah, last night was a biggy. well you don't turn 22 more than once. for the purposes of going out I was 22 last night and was joined by my good friends to celebrate. It's a bit hazy with memories coming back to me in fits and starts as I spend today flitting between my computer and my bed. The night started with me being fashionably late to see my new favourite band 'Fetch The Witches'. Those of you who know me, know that I liked to go and see a previous band of a few of the members of Fetch The Witches. So I wasnt going to pass up an opportunity to see their new incarnation. And I wasnt disappointed, I make no bones in saying they have an air of Radiohead about them. And hopefully last night was one of many

I Blame Coco is another one to watch in 2010 and another female 'singer/songwriter with access to a mac'. Her real name is Eliot Sumner, you recognise that last name don't you. Well some of you might, those who know your music will know Sumner is the real second name of musical 'icon' Sting and her up there would be his daughter (not quite his niece, I'm looking at you Joel Freeth). And just like her old man, she's making music, as well as dabbling in acting and modelling oo-er. Having already been in the studio with that man Miike Snow, her first proper single 'Caeser' features another Swedish local in the form of the one with the fringe, Robyn.

My last few posts have started with different versions of the phrase 'It's been a while' but now I make the vow that I will most certainly be blogging a little bit more. Honest, hand on heart......

Right, so lets move on. Last night I finished work, got my hungover being into my green mean machine, picked up my escort for the night and headed for Manchester Academy. The announcement of the line up for this years NME tour left be rather excited and there was no chance I was going to pass up the opportunity to attend.

I arrived just as The Drums were half way through their second song I think. And they took me by surprise a little, The Beach Boys-esque sound that comes across on their records isn't present live. But I liked their set and the lead singer moves a little like a young, fair haired Mick Jagger.

Shortly after The Drums, 4AD's The Big Pink hit the stage. A band who's sound suits the bigger stage and they played a very good set. They ended on radio 1 daytime hit Dominoes, with the front man uttering, 'We have one song left, you might know this one'.

Next up were curry house frequenters Bombay Bicycle Club. They raced through yet another cracking set, with Open House being one of my highlights. But they didnt play one of my favourite songs of theirs, The Hill. But you cant win them all.

Last but by no means least were The Maccabees. A band I've grown to love beyond what may be deemed necessary, but I don't care. I've yet to see them play anything less then an amazing gig. And this was no different, they dont play all their singles these days, and the set is usually second album heavy but anyone who's a fan doesnt care really. Perhaps a highlight was I am Kloot's lead singer Johnny Bramwell to do a cover of the Manchester bands song 'Because'. This didnt go down to well with crowd with many of the boppers down the front taking this as an opportunity to get to the bar for a much needed breather and pint of water. something I often miss from my time as a 16 year mental case at gigs. Nowadays I like a little space for a sing song and sometimes a dance, if I'm not shooting disapproving glances at the two women who are scrawking at each, paying no attention to the stage. The band closed with Love you better with the little brass section assembled at the back giving it a little extra edge. Not before I witnessed 'friend' of the band and celebtriy fan Mat Horne dancing on the balcony to No kind words, he's in the video you know.

All in all a cracking night, which will go down as one of my favourite gigs that I've to in a while.

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be invited on to a very good friends radio show at my old uni. The show was a sort of 'Best of 2009'. You know its that time of the year. I was a guest to discuss the tunes for the presenters top 12 or 13, I can't remember. But there were plenty of disagreements about certain tunes and I didn't really get to discuss anything in great detail.

So now I'm going to attempt to do a top 5 of 2009, both songs and albums.

So lets start with the albums shall we........

5. Toddla T - 'Skanky Skanky' The more electro choice in this list which serves as a great alternative to the gee-tar based albums. Not only is this a great album with great 'rydams', it's also got some funny skits in there. RECESSION

4. Golden Silvers - 'True romance' Seeing a band 6 times in a year, 3 of which were in the same weekend means they must be good. Maybe Golden Silvers haven't achieved the mainstream success they deserved but they released a corker

r of a debut this year to justify some of the earlier hype.

3. Bombay Bicycle Club - 'I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose' Another band who were around for a while before releasing their debut. In this writers opinion, if you can call me that, this is what indie should all be about.

2. The Horrors - 'Primary Colours' How do you make the haters all sit up and take notice? You make an album so epic everyone's forgotten why they hate you. Could have been my number one but its not.

1. The Maccabbees - ' Wall of Arms' Before this album was released I'd admit I wasn't a huge fan of The Maccabbees I liked them but not to the stages I do now, post wall of Arms. This is what made me fall in love with these lads from the see, especially that Felix. and long my it continue.

Special Mentions - Miike Snow, Passion Pit, The Pains of being Pure at Heart, The Xx

Songs of 2009

This takes much of a similar shame to the above section, as some of the same bands feature. But I'm going to do it anyway.

5. La Roux - In for the Kill (Skream vs Foamo) - for me the original was such a massive tune at the beginning of the year, with it also hitting number two a few months later. But the skream remix blew up from nowhere. (Id love to see that video of me and Jonny Silcock dancing in the studio to it) it shot dubstep into the mainstream and probably give me my first proper taste of the wobble. Anyway I picked the foamo re-edit of the skream remix, purely on the basis that this one was a bit bigger and got me dancing more.

4. Lady Gaga - Poker Face laugh if you like, I don't care one of the biggest tunes of the year from the biggest performer of the year. Tore it down on the Other Stage at Glastonbury, turning me into a massive fan. And she continues to get bigger. Come on the Gaga!

3. Miike Snow - Animal A far cry from Britney Spears, who's hit 'toxic' was produced by this Swedo - American trio. This tune is pretty genius, it got the remix treatments by many bit im sticking with the original.

2. The Horrors - Sea Within A Sea 8 minutes of pure craftsman ship, when the video aired all them months ago it made people sit up and take notice, whilst throwing their opinions of the Horrors out the window. Awesome tune.

1. The Maccabees - Can You Give it I could of picked about 3 other tunes off this album and been happy with them being number. But I went for this one, maybe on the basis of the video.

Special Mentions - The Arctic Monkeys - Cornerstone, Kasabian - Underdog, Mumford and Sons - White Blank Page, Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers, Deadmau5 - I remember (caspa remix)

I've probably missed out loads but ah well, any qualms then post your top tunes. Easy.

After the demise (read: I got too lazy to post anything) of my other blog/tumblr, 'The Benevolent of Antelopes' I thought it was about time I reinvigorated my creative flair (no laughing) and started up something a little bit different. So I switched sides and created this here blog. It'll be mainly about what's happening in the music world. With, maybe. a little of bit about fashion and/or my life. They pretty much go hand in hand these days.

So anyway, time for some music. Fenech Soler are a three-peice from somewhere in Northamptonshire, if you arn't aware of them already. Notable fans include radio 1 upstarts Jaymo & Andy George, who got them on their label (Moda Music) as well big timers Kissy Sell out and Anne Mac. This is the single out now on Moda Music its called 'Lies'
